Which American Idol Did You Root For In Each Season?
Which American Idol Did You Root For In Each Season?
My list:
Season 1 - Tamyra Gray*
Season 2 - Clay Aiken (with Kimberly Locke close behind)
Season 3 - Jennifer Hudson
Season 4 - Anthony Federov (with Vonzell Solomon close behind)
Season 5 - Mandisa (with Paris close behind)
As you can see, I've yet to root for a winner, though I've come very close.
*Admittedly, I didn't tune in to Season 1 until later in the show, and I've come to like Kelly Clarkson more with time

Season 1: Kelly Clarkson and Tamyra Gray
Season 2: Kimberly Locke and Clay Aiken
Season 3: I don't remember much of this season, but I was biased and was rooting for Jasmine Trias because she was Filipino...but when it got to the last few, I was rooting for Diana Degarmo. She performed at the WDW Christmas Day show. It's funny because Clay Aiken was there the year before and both were not the real winners of Idol.
Season 4: Carrie Underwood right from her audition and no, not because of Simon. I also liked Bo Bice, too so I would be happy if either won in the end.
Season 5: Sadly, I only managed to watch the first day of auditions and the finale last night. We can thank college for that. Though during the Finale, I was rooting for Taylor Hicks. If I actually watched, I'd probably root for Chris the bald guy, the Aretha Franklin girl, and "Chicken Little," hehe.

It's funny because "root for" means something completely different over here...

-Season 1-I didn't really pay too much attention, but I saw the last few episodes and I was voting for Kelly Clarkson.
-I skipped season 2
-Season 3-I was voting for George Huff and Diana Degarmo. I was also wanting John Peter Lewis because he's from the town right by mine.
-Season 4- for awhile I was voting for Constantine and Carrie, but then I just picked Carrie. I also loved Vonzell though.
-Season 5-I was going for Katherine and Melissa at first, then Katherine and Chris, then Elliot and Taylor, and then finally just Taylor.

The only season of American Idol I've really watched was the second, and for that I only tuned in for the last few weeks or so. Needless to say, I was rather crushed when Clay lost. I only saw a few episodes of season 3 in which I caught Fantasia's rendition of "Summertime", which in turn made me root for her as the winner. As for the most recent season, I only saw parts of a few final episodes and wasn't all that impressed with Taylor Hicks.

I used to make fun of people who watched American Idol. I used to think it was a waste of time and there were better shows on televison than that. For some reason this season I got hooked on the auditions shows and then said what the heck, with a DVR I can record the shows and watch and skip through them and not be a big fan.
WRONG!!!!
I got hooked on the first show of the season and was there until the last. I thought that the auditions were hilarious, and that it was really hard for the judges to pick the final 24. When it came down to the Top 12 I started duping the shows to DVD's to keep for something to watch during the summer. My favorites from the very beginning were Paris Bennett, Mandisa, LIsa Tucker, Elliott Ramin, Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks. As the weeks got on, I warmed up to Katharine McPhee, but I never got the McPheever. She was just okay, and very one dimensional as a singer. Chris Daughtry was my overall favorite from day one, with Elliott Yamin and Taylor Hicks following in that order. I was hoping for an all guy final two between Chris and Taylor. (And I think that Chris would have won - hands down!)
I thought the Finale show was over-the-top with talent, and it was great to see the top 12 back together. What a surprise to see Prince, and the "new" Clay Aiken.
Overall I agree with their choice of American Idol for Season Five.

I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!
I like American Idol so I watched it from the beginning:
Season 1: Kelly
Season 2: Clay
Season 3: Latoya
Season 4: Carrie
Season 5: Mandisa
I thought the battle for season 1 should've been between Tamyra & Kelly...even though Justin is a good singer.. His rendition of Before Your Love was..."okay" and simple.
Season 2 was a "whatever" because Simon kept declaring Ruben the winner. I thought that Clay was a goood singer and showed the most change in appearance and developed the most in singing.
Season 3 upset me most because Latoya was voted off due to Jasmine's tears. What a .... I was annoyed with Jasmine's flower & her singing. She didn't deserve to be top 3.
In Season 4, I was rooting for Anwar & Carrie, but when Anwar made it on the big stage, he lost his magic. Carrie always held herself (even though sometimes she was dressed...oddly) and brought something to the stage. I thought Bo was a great singer who could make it on his own without winning American Idol--yup, he's that good.
I didn't like the top 2 for season 5 because it didn't seem like a *real* competition. What would've been great was Taylor vs. Chris. That would've been a great American Idol finale! Yup, I thought Mandisa had talent and would've preferred Mandisa vs. Chris.
