Wow... Now that's a great trailer - kudos to Disney for making an already tired franchise feel fresh again. I like it very much.
I would have preferred the old design for continuity's sake - however, since I was always freaked out by CR's button eyes, I find this change most welcoming.sotiris2006 wrote:It bugs me that they've changed Christopher Robin's character design. He actually looks younger from his original incarnation although it should have been the opposite supposedly. I didn't mind the clothes changing because it made sense since it's his school uniform but a whole new (and to me worse) character design? Major let down.
"Somewhere Only We Know" from Keane.sotiris2006 wrote:Btw, does anyone know what's the song that's featured in the trailer?
now that's a great little trailer!
showcasing the classicness, nostolgia and emotion of it, while still showing the humour and making it feel modern and fresh with the song, title cards and vibe.
I'm sure this kind of trailer will get kids, as well as adults to wanna see it.
why couldn't they have marketed "Tangled" this way lol

I could deal without the cheesy too, but the title seems really weak to me. If I were not a diehard Disney fan, I'd probably think, Winie the Pooh? Oh, I've seen that already. IMHO I think the title would have done well with some sort of differentiator, whether that be Further Adventures of Winnie the Pooh or Winne the Pooh 2000 (ok, not really on that last one . . . )No cheesy title changes
In any event, it looks like it will be a charming movie, and as someone wisely pointed out in the whole Rapunzel vs. Tangled, it's still the same movie, regardless of the title.
I'm really pleased by what I'm seeing. I've always felt the sequels and spin-offs have had decent animation since this a world that's, admittedly, not very complex to recreate. Even so, they really went above and beyond the call of duty here. The animation's absolutely gorgeous and certainly hearkens back to the original. I love that they implemented the storybook motif back in.
I actually think Craig Ferguson's voicework as Owl is halfway decent. When he was first announced, I had trouble imagining him in the role, but I think (especially towards the end of the trailer) that his Hal Smith impersonation's not bad at all. Andre Stojka of course did a more spot-on job, but I'm fine with Craig.
I do find Christopher Robin's new human eyes kind of unsettling as I'm so used to the Elroy Jetson look on him. I guess you could say that since he's in school and learning more, his eyes are being opened (...or something...).
Speaking of school, I'm kind of surprised to find this to be a real sequel in which Chris is already in school. Even though I've been calling this a sequel, I've really been thinking it'd be a midquel that takes place before the "We Say Goodbye" sequence at the end of Many Adventures. That means Pooh's Grand Adventure still works as a direct sequel to Many Adventures and direct prequel to this new one. That works for me since I've only considered Pooh's Grand Adventure to be the only canon Pooh film up to this point, now I've got my own official Pooh trilogy (alongside the New Adventures tv series).
I'm also surprised they're just sticking with the Winnie the Pooh title. I know this is a reboot, but it's also a sequel. The Further Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is still the best title this project could've had, but I'll take Winnie the Pooh over Tangled any day.
My interest was already high for this film, but now I'm really excited. The trailer's very classy and gives me hope and this will restore the wit and whimsy back to the Hundred Acre Wood.

YAY! What a classy trailer.
The animation is gorgeous! Wow! Nothing seemed weird - very fluid and lush (except the dream sequence was a little off-putting to me for some reason.)
Hmm, not sure about Owl's voice - it's less expressive.
Wonder why they chose the design change for Christopher Robin - doesn't really bother me.
It seems odd to have a familiar Tigger/Pooh voice juxtaposed with new voices.
I love the song choice - I actually suggested that before the "Where the Wild Things Are" trailer came out - I thought "Somewhere Only We'd Know" would make a great WtWTA song. But it works great here.
The pure white interstitial cards seem like the iPad ads, though.
Color me excited! (not that I wasn't already)
Still wish for Lumpy, though.

Anyway, I saw the trailer and I'm looking forward to it. I'm in a strange Winnie the Pooh mood recently, so I'm looking forward to the movie. It's actually my most anticipated movie in 2011(so far).
I have to agree though, Craig Ferguson...WTF? The cynic in me believes he was only cast just so Disney could have an automatic plug on a late-night show(same reason Cyrus was cast in Bolt). Hopefully the film will pull above that and be better than the last couple films at WDFA.
Though I doubt they can ever make and ending poignant and bittersweet as the one in "Many Adventures...".

Am I the only one who liked Owl's voice? I can understand why everyone seems to find something off about it, since to me it sounds more like Zazu than Owl, but Craig still has some kind of warmth in his voice that Owl needs.
That's a great trailer. The animation looks very crisp, and it seems like the little touches of humor and character which we've grown to except from Pooh Bear is still present. I'm wishing the best for this one.

I love Craig's talk show, but his voice doesn't seem right coming out of this character to me. Its kind of a disconnect for me actually since I hear his voice every weeknight being himself. I had a similar issue with how to train your dragon, but to a lesser extent.
I should say Ive never been a pooh fan, Ive ways seen it as a childish franchise, despite being told it was dumbed down, that I had the wrong perception about it. but I still can't shake that. I'm waiting to see if they can change my mind though. the trailer was nice, but nothing really appeals to me so far.

Wow, great trailer! I, too, didn't care for Christopher Robin's new design. When I first saw him, I couldn't eactly pinpoint the difference, but then I payed closer attention and realized it was the eyes.
Ferguson's Owl is... surprising? I knew it would be different, but it's almost slightly jarring. I don't know. I think I'd be able to adjust to it within the course of the movie, though.
Also, I am hoping that "Winnie the Pooh" is the trailer title, or whatever they're doing nowadays. I really liked "The Further Adventures of Winnie the Pooh".
EDIT: Previously wrote "Ferguson's Robin". Now that would be an interesting casting choice!

I know! It'll take some getting used to. He actually has a pair of eyes now, instead of the two nondescript black dots.Tristy & UmbrellaFish wrote:Tristy:
