Okay I thought the Walt Disney Treasures were the best but Disney keeps making other series as Waves such as Cartoon Classic Favorites and Timeless Tales so we can double dip. Rolling Eyes

Ok enough allready!javascript:emoticon('Mad') How many times are these cartoons going to show on DVD? If it was a collection of cartoons that have not been released on DVD yet than that would be a different story. They allready made the "Classic Cartoon Favorites" and thats enough. those folks at the mouse house are really over doing it in the cartoon compalation DVD cannon!

I have no major problem with these. I think these releases are great for people who missed out on the Treasures or the casual fan who likes Mcieky and the gang but would not buy a Treasures set.

My only real complaint is that this is not part of the Classic Cartoon Favourites line. I like that line and I want more of those and not some new line of DVDs.

Everywhere but the United States, the "Funny Factory" DVDs are different from the "Classic Cartoon Favorites" DVDs— in that the FFs feature the new Mickey cartoons produced for MOUSEWORKS and HOUSE OF MOUSE.
Someone in the United States has apparently made a conscious decision that the MW/HOM Mickeys didn't deserve a video release here. Instead, we get bushels of later, dull 1940s Mickey shorts where Pluto is really the star. How disappointing.
This isn't to say that the Classic Cartoon Favorites discs aren't disappointing too. You'd think these kid-marketed discs would be ideal spots to include the colorized versions of Mickey's black-and-white shorts. But evidently the actual programmer hasn't realized that colorized versions exist, as none appear in the upcoming April CCF wave. The two "Mickey" discs consist almost entirely of Pluto solo shorts!
(Yes, the Christmas wave included a colorized MICKEY'S GOOD DEED— but I suspect that was a mastering error, and the actual programmer is still unaware that the colorized versions are out there!)

This is just the sort of randomly selected cartoon collections that Disney has released for more than 20 years. I see no sensible reason why those who buy the Treasures should "double-dip" into this.

Sorry to drag back up this old thread, but I just ordered these two from bestbuy.com (yes I used the link so I contributed to the site Smile ). They were of interest to me because my kids have just "discovered" shorts via the one included on the Alice in Wonderland ME DVD, and have asked me to buy more. My three-year-old could watch the short mentioned above over and over for 1/2 the day, and it wouldn't be enough - he likes it that much.

I wasn't smart enough at the time to invest in the Treasures collection, and feel it's too expensive to try and back-buy them all. This is a perfect way for me to start a new collection.

My question is: Does anyone know if there are more 'Funny Factory' volumes planned for release to DVD, or is this the end of the collection?

The answer to your question is: No. It's too early to tell if they're planning to make more volumes of Funny Factory or not. So, my suggestion is to wait until the press release is out.

Oh, I know it. It's amazing how envious you are of everyone who owns a DVD player that you lie and say you buy every single Disney DVD. Envy really is powerful, eh Reyquila?

It's true though nearly all of your 550 posts have been similar to ''I'm buying'' ''I have every Region 1 Animated Disney DVD'' or ''Look at my collection''

If you don't like double-dipping, then just get one set or the other. That's what I'm doing with the Treasures. I only get Cartoon Classics if (and this is a very big IF) there's a certain cartoon that I want. For instance, I really want Pluto's Blue Note (seen on the CCF) and Crazy With the Heat (on Small World 1), but the Treasures containing such shorts will be released inside of a year. I only have to wait until Christmas to see the remaining Pluto shorts, for instance.

My point is, if you hate double-dipping, just pick one series or another; don't buy everything. If you like certain cartoons, then and ONLY then, can you buy them repeatedly.

Hope this helps.

Everyone's free to buy whatever he/she pleases, for whichever reason. I'm NOT buying this, since this important field in my Disney collection is or will be covered by the Treasures, of which I've got all.

That's the point I'm making here. I'm not gonna buy the simple cartoon DVD series, either; I'm fine with the Treasures, too, thanks a million.

All DVDs are made to make money. Razz

Looking forward to whichever one ends up in my mailbox this week for review. Smile

I see nothing wrong with these vanilla releases. I mean, not everyone will want to have a limited edition DVD release, or pay $50-$100 for the out of print ones. This is a nice alternative for the casual fans who don't mind buying a handful of cartoons at a time.

And some people do want limited editions, like me. That's the point I was making earlier: some people do want special DVDs and others don't. It's like they say: to each his own. Everyone to his own taste.
