DVD release of POOH’S GRAND ADVENTURE - THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTOPHER
ROBIN, available on April 11, 2006. This enchanting Hundred Acre Woods story has been in
the fabled Disney Vault for almost nine years, and has been fully digitally restored and
remastered for its DVD debut. A.A. Milne published his first “Pooh” story 80 years ago, and
POOH’S GRAND ADVENTURE - THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTOPHER ROBIN is based on one
of Milne’s classic original stories. When Christopher Robin goes off to school, Pooh and his
pals set off on a “grand adventure” to find their friend. Come celebrate Winnie the Pooh’s 80th
anniversary with Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore and all the Hundred Acre Wood characters,
in this animated treasure filled with songs and laughs, available on Disney DVD for $29.99
(SRP).

Grand, all-new bonus features include the new game “Adventures In The Hundred Acre Wood.”
This family friendly feature has multiple levels and adventures: “Where is Christopher Robin,”
“Pooh’s Honey Pot,” “Piglet’s Tree Troubles,” “Tigger’s Hide and Go Bounce,” “Eeyore’s Fallen
House,” and “Rabbit’s Carrot Pulling Problem.” There is a “Pooh’s Symphony” feature on the
music of Winnie The Pooh.

In this full-length feature film, Pooh’s dearest friend in all the world, Christopher Robin, searches
for a way to tell his “silly old bear” that it’s time for him to begin school, and that they cannot play
together every moment, forever and ever. He wants to explain that even if they’re far apart, he
will still always be with Pooh. But parting is never easy, and Christopher Robin leaves Pooh a
note attached to a jar of honey. Of course the honey spills, making the words almost illegible.
When Pooh and the others bring the note to Owl, he misreads it and tells the anxious friends
that Christopher Robin has gone to “skull” (instead of “school”) and needs their help. Pooh and
his friends go on a grand journey, to the eye of the great skull cave, searching for Christopher
Robin, and finding fun and adventure!

POOH’S GRAND ADVENTURE – THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTOPHER ROBIN features a stellar
cast of ‘Pooh’ favorites, with Jim Cummings as Winnie The Pooh, the late John Fiedler as Piglet,
Ken Sansom as Rabbit, Andre Stojka as Owl, Peter Cullen as Eeyore, Brady Bluhm as
Christopher Robin, David Warner as the Narrator, and the late Paul Winchell as Tigger. This
joyous and entertaining adventure includes five original songs made for the movie.

Screenplay by Karl Geurs and Carter Crocker. Inspired by the stories of A.A. Milne. Directed

Good to see that the aspect ratio says fullscreen on this one. I'd heard reports that it was to be 1.66:1, but it was created in 1.33:1; the first direct-to-video title to use anything other than 1.33 was Simba's Pride in 1998, which "Grand Adventure" predates by a little more than a year (August 1997-October 1998.) Of course, they could pull a King of Thieves and have it be improper widescreen anyway despite the press release, but I hope not.

Though it is slim-to-none on bonus feature content that actulally means anything, I love the movie very much and am nice to hear that it will be treated well on disc as far as remastered picture and sound are concerned. I am very pleasntly surprised that they seem to be making such a big deal out of thiis release, but it deserves it. I hope it sells well because it represents a still recent time before Pooh and the gang were dumbed down to appeal only to preschoolers, and the movie is universally enjoyable and accessable, much like the New Adventures series and Walt's original shorts/movie (which is another DVD that I still need to get my hands on.)

I will pick this up!

Super news pinky! I'm really excited. I used to borrow the VHS from my neighbor all of the time. Shows you how Pooh's appeal can be to all ages (He is 17 and off at college) . Can't wait. But I'm with Mr. Toad, in that I prefer the VHS cover better. Not as flamboyant.

My question is, when are they gonna realize that $29.99 is way too much for a single disc, especially one that's not all that special. And yes, I know retailers will charge less than that, but their discounted prices will still be more than this disc should be.

I cannot wait for this DVD to come out! I want to add it to my Pooh Collection! I have all the Winnie the Pooh DVDs to date.
Even the new one at Target that was with a Christmas movie that I already had lol. I just traded the movie in for Blockbuster points!
