sidekick, Launchpad McQuack, he patrols the city of St. Canard. It gets even better when he
adopts his orphan niece, Gosalyn, who wants to help out with the crimebusting. This 3-disc

I'm glad to see this set is getting more than 3 episodes and it's pilot too. The cover is a bit dark for my taste, but I like it.

Also when Darkwing Duck saves Goslyn from that Bull guy 2 part Darkly Dawns the Duck.
If you still don't understand The Simpsons pilot episdoe was when Bart got that tatoo and Homer brought Santa's Little Helper.

Your confusing origin story, first run and Pilot. A pilot episode specificaly is an epsiode commissioned by the network to test the concept - it it get's positive feedback, a series is commisioned. Goof Troop's lost epsisode, Party Animal, falls into this catagory. These episodes can also be an origin story.
First run is the first episode in the series run - The Simpsons christmas special falls into this catagory (as it is not the pilot nor the origin story - it was never intended to be the first)
Origin story is the epsiodes that set the scene. It can be a pilot, a first run episode or later on. DWD and Talespin's origin stories were not pilots. Chip N Dale's wasnt created untill much later in production. |

Ya know I keep hearing that but I can distinctly remember as a kid the origin of Rescue Ranger coming on waay before the series.
It was done in a similar pattern to Ducktales.
I've checked from a few places and it seems like people who were kids in the bigger markets actually got the pilot first while smaller markets got it thrown into the actual series. |

Epsisodes are not usualy run in production order - Chip N Dale's origin episode was probably also the first run on Micheal Eisner's Wonderful World of Disney, the same way Ducktales got it's start. |

If I may:
"Well, the way they make shows is, they make one show. That show's called a pilot. Then they show that show to the people who make shows, and on the strength of that one show they decide if they're going to make more shows. Some pilots get picked and become television programs. Some don't, become nothing. She starred in one of the ones that became nothing. "

Actually that's what is weird about it.
In the NYC market Ducktales pilot originally aired on Fox 5 and I believe it ran on that station for 1/2 or a whole season. The following year it switched over to WPIX channel 11 and that's where the Rescue Rangers special aired in movie format as well.
As a result the series was then paired in an hour long block titled Disney Afternoon. The following season they were then paired with Gummie Bears and Talespin and redubbed the Disney Afternoon. That's when the rotation started (Darkwing replacing Gummie, Gooftroop replacing Ducktales, etc. etc.)
I don't know how it worked in other markets, but I know shows are usually tested in the NY, LA, Chi, Dallas and Boston markets first.
I never knew until recently that other markets didn't actually see the origin first. |

I still can't get enough of the great box art.  I wonder if they'll be considerable collector's editions like the Tick one is supposed to be.
Man! I'm so happy! I can't wait until September (seeing as how I work on cruise ships I won't be able to get them until I come home). |

It's been so long. My most memorable moment from that show is when the little red-hair duck girl squirted mustard on every inch of her hotdog and ate it messily at a concert or something. I despise mustard and thought (and still do) that part warrents vomiting. Ew.
