The “High School Musical” soundtrack from Walt Disney records also made its mark and within a month of its release
shipped Gold. The soundtrack remained the #1 selling album of iTunes for three weeks, and rose to #6 on the Billboard
Top 200 album chart. Two singles, the duet “Breaking Free” and the rhythmic “Get’cha Head In The Game” (Troy
Version), are also Gold. “Breaking Free” made the largest jump in the 48-year history of the Billboard Hot 100,
catapulting from #86 to #4 in just one week. “Get’cha Head In The Game” broke a 34-year record with its biggest jump
ever to #23, from #100. Seven other singles from the soundtrack also debuted on the Hot 100.
“High School Musical” follows Troy, a popular high school basketball star, and Gabriella, a shy, academically gifted
newcomer, who both discover they share a secret passion for singing. When they audition for the lead roles in the school
musical, it threatens East High’s rigid social order and sends their peers into an uproar. In a desperate effort to maintain
the status quo, the “jocks,” the “brainiacs” and even the drama club regulars hatch plots to separate the pair and keep them
offstage. By defying expectations and taking a chance on their dreams, Troy and Gabriella inspire other students to go
public with some surprising hidden talents of their own. Starring are Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale
(Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”), Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel (Disney Channel Original Movie
“Halloweentown High”), Monique Coleman, Bart Johnson, Oleysa Rulin and Alyson Reed.
The movie was written by Peter Barsocchini and directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega and is Executive Produced
by Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush.

For those of you who are fans of High School Musical, Disney is looking to release the High School Musical-Remix Edition. No date is given, but, the article the information comes from is talking about fourth quarter releases. So, that looks like when it will be released.
VB: How do you feel about this fourth quarter for the studio given your strong lineup?
MacPherson: We’re really very optimistic about the fourth quarter. It’s gonna be competitive. There are lots of good releases, which is going to be great for the industry as a whole. We’ve secured some really prime dates for our titles. It’s going to be great to have Little Mermaid, Cars, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, all in the quarter. And I think that we have, beyond the tentpole hits, one of the strongest lineups we’ve ever had, because we have our great TV on DVD lineup, and TV DVD is one of the primary growth engines for the industry right now.
We also have some of the great tween properties, like a remix edition of High School Musical and Cheetah Girls 2 and then of course our new Blu-ray releases. So we have a very plentiful fourth-quarter offering.

I'm hoping "remix edition" means they've replaced the film with a better one, or re-edited it to make Sharpay and Ryan the good characters whose beloved musical are being sabotaged by the evil evil smart kids and dumb jocks...

"Remix" probably doesn't mean anything more than "crappy cheesy edition name." That said, DavisDVD is now reporting that this is a 2-disc set (!), streeting December 5th (yes, ANOTHER one on Decembet 5th.) Retail is $29.99.
I don't know why, but this sounds like what they're doing with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. They're releasing all three movies on DVD AGAIN. _________________ Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

A mediocre DCOM that was already released a couple months ago gets a brand spankin' new two-disc set and yet we still have no word on two-disc sets for Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, OR Lilo and Stitch!

Not to mention that we are only getting a single-disc release of Cars! What's this world coming to?! I'm with Escapay on this one! Kill me. Kill me now!!!

You guys are hysterical. Although I was thinking that maybe remix edition could mean that while the movie is playing the songs are actually different. Same words and everything but they sound like a remix. I think that would be cool, almost like watching the movie for the first time again. But my gut says it maybe just like Jake Lipson says just a new name for spcial edtion. _________________ Disney... Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are Forever
I personally don't think this DVD will be a big seller. Most of the people who bought this movie were under 10 and I can hear exactly what the parents are going to be saying "We already have that movie..." Besides I think most people will be interested in POTC 2 and True-Life Adventures. Just my two cents. _________________ - Jonathan

I will not be buying this useless 2-Disc set!
I do not see the big deal with this movie at all!
It really stinks.
It is a Grease wannabe movie and I cannot stand it!
Why not put money in other 2-Disc DVDs such as Hunchback and Hercules that need it already!
How can this get a 2-disc, while Hercules, Hunchback, and the Black Cauldron struggle to. It is a sad day in Disney history when this gets released. _________________ Best Movies of 2009:

Even Cars!
Don't get me started on that!
my thoughts exactly!
i personally dislike this film with a passion, and to be honest the only reason why i dislike it is because of the attention it's been getting. I'll admit the songs are catchy but why in all of creation has this turned into something so huge as this? If anything, maybe this will proove to disney that the children are desperate for disney musicals and they will decide to start making more animated musicals!

What?!?! ESCAPAY NOT MENTIONING CHICKEN LITTLE!!!
Well at least you don't want Cars to have a 2-Disc set. *wipes forehead and says "Phew!"*
Seriously, I don't see the need for excitement. I mean just because it's a 2-Disc, doesn't mean it's getting the treatment of Snow White of Aladdin. I mean, have any of you seen the press release? For all we know, the 2nd disc will have all the bonus material transfered from the single disc version, and throw in a couple stuff like music videos, set-top games etc. If stuff like a 30 minute documentary comes on the disc, then I can see why excitement would rage.

Okay, how's this:

And where's my exhaustive four-disc collector's edition of Chicken Little in limited-edition boxset with a piece of the sky????
