feature rare and never-before-seen materials on DVD December 19, 2006. An amazing collection of animated and live-action
programs, each keepsake volume is hosted by noted film historian Leonard Maltin and presented with superb
picture and sound.
These four must-own collections once more demonstrate the rich heritage of Walt’s legendary Studio. More Silly
Symphonies presents a new collection of the young Disney Studio’s pioneering, outstanding early animated shorts,
including two directed by Walt himself. The Complete Pluto Volume 2 delivers more hilarious hi-jinks from Mickey’s
(and the world’s) beloved canine companion, Pluto. Your Host, Walt Disney brings legendary live-action TV shows,
hosted by Walt, to a new generation; and The Mickey Mouse Club Featuring The Hardy Boys is a family adventure
from the Golden Age of Television, featuring Disney’s first “Hardy Boys” serialized film in its entirety. All four 2-disc
DVD sets feature rare or never-before-seen bonus materials that delve even deeper into these rich collections of Disney

Each volume is individually numbered, with an authenticity certificate, and an exclusive lithograph in the collectible,

MORE SILLY SYMPHONIES
This second volume completes the Silly Symphonies collection with more award-winning shorts which showcase Walt’s
technical and narrative innovations. Over the years, Silly Symphonies has been used as a model of how best to combine
sight and sound and included in this volume are over a dozen never-before-released shorts from 1929-1938.
Included in this collection are the Academy® Award winner “Three Orphan Kittens” (Winner Best Short Subject 1935);
“Mother Goose Goes to Hollywood”, and two seminal shorts directed by Walt himself: “Springtime” and “Night.” This
collection includes over a dozen shorts that have never before been released on DVD.
Bonus materials include audio commentaries; “Silly Symphonies Rediscovered” featurette on this trail-blazing series of
short films; “Animators At Play” featurette, and extensive production art galleries.
Mickey’s best pal Pluto stars as top dog in a new set of adventure-filled animated shorts. One of Walt’s classic characters,
Pluto has kept generations of audiences in stitches with his hilarious antics. This collection offers all the zany, madcap
comedy that Pluto is famous for, in a full-color collection that spans 1947 to 1951. Included are “Pluto’s Blue Note”
(Academy® Award nominee, Best Short Subject, 1947), “Bone Bandit,” “Pluto’s Sweater,” “Figaro and Cleo” and “Cat
Nap Pluto.”
Bonus materials include: a “master class” with modern-day Disney animation masters Randy Cartwright and Andreas
Deja. Randy discusses “Bone Trouble” and Andreas discusses “Hawaiian Holiday” – it’s a class all Disney fans will want

Treasures volume includes the complete Hardy Boys debut serial from 1956-1957, “The Mystery of the Applegate
Treasure.” This superb story features Tim Considine (Disney’s “The Swamp Fox,” “The Shaggy Dog” and more) as
Frank Hardy, and Tommy Kirk (“Old Yeller,” “Swiss Family Robinson” and many more) as Joe Hardy. The boys, both
amateur detectives, are the sons of a famous sleuth who tells them that detective work is too dangerous for boys. But that

Yay! We've finally got announcements for these, but it's not good that they don't include the shots on it. I want to know exactly what's on the Silly Symphonies volume! Still, it's nice that they've issued them, and let's hope that they update them to be much more thorough.

It's a shame there's no list of contents to make us salivate all the more; although given the slip-up with the listing for Chronological Donald 2 and the furious speculation that resulted, maybe they're playing it safe this year.
As long as we get lots of lovely b/w Sillies and an uncut version of Broken Toys, I'll be more than happy.

speaking of subtitles. . . I noticed on previous treasures, especially the Duck's, that many of the captions report wrong sayings. Has anyone else noticed this? I would hope that what is said is just as important to preserve as what is seen. I imagine that many of the captionists arn't familliar with many coloquial expressions of the day. well, that's my two bits on the subject. Now to the Treasures-
AHH- finally a press release! I too, wish for a more detailed summary, as well as any screencaps, menus, and so forth. I guess we are at the mercy of marketing yet again.
Hopefully the Pluto and Silly Symphonies sets will feature completely restored and newly transferred prints ... would not be happy with another batch of sub-par transfers from some prints they had lying around. _________________ " ... Omnium gallorum fortissimi Belgae sunt ... "
It's nice to see these finally announced and what we do learn is exciting. I just wish Disney would have given us full content listings. (Especially for YHWD!).

I wonder if the "rare interview with Walt’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller" is actually what we have been waiting too see on the Secrets DVD (if it is EVER released!) ?...
I noticed the first time I went to the official site on disney.com for the "Your Host" treasure the run time for the dvd was over 500 minutes. A few days later that went down to 269 minutes. As of today it stands at 388 minutes. They are playing with my emotions. I hope we end up seeing six full length episodes plus the interview!
I'm getting all of them, but am most excited for "Your Host, Walt Disney." Walt is my hero, so a whole Treasures set devoted to him is very intriguing to me. I'm also excited for "The Hardy Boys" set.
Yay! "Mother Goose Goes to Hollywood" has been included to SS volume 2! I hope Disney doesn't edit out the african american caricatures in this short. If they did, I will not be a happy camper. I'll be getting all of them, though I don't know if I'll be able to get them all right away. I usually get them as CHristmas gifts from my parents, but when I don't, I have to get usually, 1 or 2 at a time. Haven't missed any yet though.
Any idea when Disney is supposed to provide the complete contents lists for these?
Not sure if they will be. In past years, the press releases were always the last thing released prior to the DVDs themselves. We may just have to wait until review copies go out, unless a revised PR is issued.
