Fraggle Rock Season 4 Comes to DVD Fall 2008

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Hopefully after that We will see the series of the Cartoon Animated Fraggles on DVD

By this is Fraggle Rock's Final Season.... So that's why I am saying after this hopefully we will see the Animated Cartoon versioin of Fraggle Rock...
Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of Fraggle Rock - the first episode debuted on HBO on January 10, 1983. The show ran for more than 4 years, spawned 96 episodes, produced more than 150 original songs, and inspired and entertained an entire generation of fans. In 2005, The Jim Henson Company and HIT Entertainment partnered to release the complete first season in a deluxe box set loaded with hours of bonus features. Seasons two and three followed with equally impressive sets in 2006 and 2007, and now fans are waiting to discover what the fate will be for the final episodes of this beloved show and their DVD collections.</p><p>Well, the Jim Henson Company and HIT Entertainment are planning to release the final 24 episodes of Fraggle Rock in a deluxe season box set later this year. That’s right Fraggle fans, the "Fraggle Rock - Complete Fourth Season" DVD box set is coming!</p><p>A representative from HIT Entertainment informed me earlier this week that the fourth season is tentatively lined up for release in "<strong>Fall 2008</strong>". Details on the specific disc specifications and bonus features are not available yet; however I've been told that a new batch of interviews and other behind the scenes content is currently being worked on for the set. I've told to expect a detailed announcement sometime this summer (and given the past timelines of when such information surfaces, it would be likely be around June or July).</p><p>This DVD box set will include the final 24 episodes of the series. Whereas HBO had stretched the 96 episodes of Fraggle Rock into 5 broadcast season (of 24, 24, 22, 13 and 13 episodes respectively); Henson had produced and filmed the series in 4 evenly sized seasons of 24 episodes each. HIT is following the production seasons with these sets, and I have been told that all of the remaining episodes will be included on this final set.</p><p>With this release fans will finally be able to complete their collections and own every episode of this beloved series. I will be sure to keep you all posted as soon I hear anymore on this highly anticipated "Fraggle Rock – Complete Fourth Season" set (due to hit stores in "Fall 2008")

Unfortunately Season 4 has been shelved and replaced with a complete series which sucks for those of us that have the first three seasons.

HIT Entertainment is apparently getting a little greedy in wanting us all double dip on the first season sets to get season 4/5.

Apparently they dont have an email contact but this is there address if you want to complain(I will)

That really is terrible for the people who own the first four seasons...but I'm fine with it as I currentley don't own any of them.

This is absolutely ridiculous!!!
Only the fans who bought the previous sets made it possible for the whole series to be released and this is how they thank us for buying their stuff??!!!
As much as I would love the Complete Series set, especially since there are supposedly many new, very good bonus features, I can't afford to double-dip and the first three sets are so lovely and well made.
This really makes me mad!!!

And muppetnewsflash.com has provided us with HiT's e-mail address. So, fans of Fraggle Rock, write them an e-mail and tell them what you think of their disrespectful behavior towards loyal fans and customers!

Being a Die Hard fan I got rid of my first 2 season of fraggle rock as soon as I Heard about the Complete series...traded them into a movie shop at the mall....I will be ordering the Complete series of Fraggle rock via Amazon as they will have a discount price on the set....as well as Batman: TAS and The Flintstones Box set...DVD

But I quite agree for those not wanting a fancy box set this is a diappointment.....(that's probably an Understatement :P )

I would really like to get the Complete Series set, but I don't have the money to afford it and I already bought the first three seasons and those boxes are so pretty and well made that I really don't wanna give/sell them (away).
And I am not a fan of the big monster boxes, although I would really like to see the new bonus features that were announced for the complete series box.

Cover art of the Box Set:
Late last month we brought you HIT! Entertainment's announcement that they would be preparing a DVD release of <i>Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection</i>, due to be available on <B>November 4th</b> via their retailer distributors at Lionsgate Entertainment. We didn't have the package art at the time, nor did we a few days ago when we passed along word from HIT!/Lionsgate that they are only releasing <i>The Complete Series Collection</i> this fall, and that an individual "Season 4" release is not currently on the schedule (despite previous reports that it was). We still haven't heard anything further from the studio in regard to fan complaints on that score, but for those of you interested in the big package, we've got something that you'll want to see!

This morning we've exclusively obtained through our industry sources your very first look at the package art for <i>Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection</i>. As a reminder, this is a 20-DVD set that collects every episode (96 of them) from all 4 Seasons (or five, depending on how you prefer to count them, but officially it's "four" total) . There is also a ton of new bonus material on this release, which is meant to celebrate this year's 25th Anniversary of the <i>Fraggle Rock</i> series.

and for Dottie and anyone else wanting to know about the bonus features on the new Complete Series Set (Which I think the features are better than a lot of box sets out there....espically the news of an ALL NEW Fraggle Rock Short starring Red Fraggle):
Yesterday HIT! Entertainment announced that <b>November 4th</b> will see the DVD release of <i>Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection</i>. This will be just a week after the already-reported Oct. 28th release date of the 4th and final season as an individual season set. While retail distributor Lionsgate Entertainment hasn't shown it (or Season 4) on their official release schedule yet, the exciting news came yesterday from the folks at HIT! Entertainment themselves. Our thanks to reader William Mitchell for the heads-up, after he read about it in the MuppetCentral.com discussion forum.

HIT! says that this 20-disc set will contain 38 hours of content, consisting of all 96 episodes from the show's 4-season run. That includes 100 original songs, and more than two hours of all-new bonus features. Those extras include an all-new <i>Fraggle Rock</i> short featuring "Red Fraggle", and produced by The Jim Henson Company itself. Plus an original <i>Fraggle Rock</i> illustrated poster, "<i>all presented together in custom premium, collectible packaging!</i>" A picture of the package art is not available just yet, however.

The studio information comments multiple times about never-before released Season 4 content in this package, which makes us wonder if the 4th Season set might not get rescheduled to come out a week later, on the same 11/4 date as <i>The Complete Series Collection</i>. For example, when describing the content and extras on this set, HIT's literature has the following:

Never-before released episodes from season four included in the Fraggle Rock Complete Series Collection are "Sprocket's Big Adventure," "Wembley's Wonderful Whoopie Water," "Sidebottom Blues," "Uncle Matt's Discovery," "Junior Faces the Music," "A Tune For Two," "The Perfect Blue Rollie," "A Brush With Jealousy," "Wembley's Flight," "Red's Blue Dragon," "Wonder Mountain," "Space Frog Follies" and "Boober Gorg."

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES
1. ALL-NEW exclusive Fraggle Rock short created for the Complete Set by The Jim Henson Company and starring Red Fraggle, written by Cory Edwards, writer and director of the upcoming Fraggle Rock feature film
2. Original Fraggle Rock illustration poster
3. Let the Music Play featurette
4. Directing the Fraggles featurette
5. The Inner Gorg: Interviews with performers inside the costumes

8. Celebrating Fraggle Rock: Excerpts from wrap party

Video is listed as full frame, with audio as English 2.0; it is also closed captioned for the hearing impaired. Running time is 2186 minutes. Cost will be $139.98 SRP. Stay tuned for package art for <i>Fraggle Rock - The Complete Series Collection</i> (and for <i>Season 4</i>), just as soon as we can get it to you!

I'd read about the bonus features on muppetnewsflash before they announced that there was not gonna be a separate Season 4 and was already pissed off then, since some of the stuff, so HiT said would be exclusively on the Complete Series set.
I'd love to see and have all this stuff, but so far I am not ready yet for caving in and I'll wait and see if they will release season 4 separately next year.
And I don't really like the box art for the set. I find the rainbow color whatever thing kinda weird. Although I love that they decided to include Mokey on the cover again.
I'll just wait what happens and if I do decide to cave in and get the big set I know that the day it arrives on my doorstep the 4th season set will be announced.

Also for those who (including me though I don't think any of my discs got damaged enough for them to not playback but be sure I will check all 20 discs...though the discs in the binder on the page were out of its sleeve) Bought the set you probably noticed that some of the discs of the set are Damaged....
