The Costco Execs must be very excited and honored to be the only stores getting America's Heart and Soul!
This is a Chris Johnson type of movie, I guess.

America's Heart and Soul.

Heart = John Lassiter
Soul = Aretha Franklin

Awesome. Imagine a movie made by those two!

As far as I can tell, they don't have an affiliates program, so no way to support the site. Unless you can find otherwise. Thanks for the thought, in any event!

Just out of curiousity-is Disney afraid that if they offer this movie to other stores like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. that it won't sell? Confused I hope this isn't the start of a trend. I can see it now-Cinderella, available on Disney DVD exclusively at Wal-Mart for $50. Surprised Hey, it could happen-if a DVD (or any item for that matter) is only available in one place, that store can set whatever price it wants. Competition keeps prices low, so let's hope Disney doesn't make a habit out of this. Mad

Based on some of Jim Hills comments (which I take with a pinch of salt) It's possible the other stores (especially WAL*MART) refuse to give it shelf space.

2099net-

While I certainly agree with you that Wal-mart may be refusing to give the movie shelf space (Wal-Mart has never been known for offering a variety of titles) I rather doubt that stores such as Best Buy and Borders, which do carry a wide selection of titles, would not carry America's Heart and Soul. I very much dislike the idea of "exclusive sellers," be they Costco or anyone else.

Luke

The trouble I see, and as your review so easily pointed out, very few people have seen America's Heart and Soul (including myself, so I can't necessarily make a judgement on the film). Disney has done itself no favors with this particular film-it was released during the Spiderman 2-Fahrenheit 9/11 double whammy 4th of July weekend this summer, meaning at best it was a second or third choice for most movie-goers and now this limited DVD distribution. Is Disney deliberately trying to lose money on this film? Question Of course America's Heart and Soul wasn't the only film to get buried by the Spidey 2/Fahrenheit juggernaut-one of my favorite films from 2004-Two Brothers also came out at this time and did very little business, which I thought was quite a shame. Sad However, I would assume that Universal will release the Two Brothers DVD to all retailers when it comes out, since it would not want to miss out on any sales.
I don't think either America's Heart and Soul or Two Brothers would ever match the DVD sales of a Spiderman 2 or a Fahrenheit 9/11, but by limiting the distribution-and no rental copies available at Blockbuster,etc.-Disney is setting itself up for failure.
