So basically the Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favourties is to Walt Disney Treasures what Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection is to Looney Tunes Golden Collection.
BTW, have all these shorts already been released on Treasures tins? _________________ My Blog

| doesnt effect me since i plan on owning all of this content via the Treasures series, but it wouldve been really cool if they would have reissued some of the themed compilation videos from the 80s like "kids is kids", etc. rather than these (Id double dip!), though they still sound great for those who dont plan on picking up the Treasures.. |

Sounds cool to me...
A step down in price for those looking for specific shorts...
but that don't want to plop down $35 for the Treasure Sets.
I wish there were 2-3 more cartoons on each set,
but hey, at least the option to buy these discs is there.
Hopefully they will do more later on...
(I'm pretty sure we'll see a ton of these discs if the first sell well.) |

Same here! I just hope these sell well enough so that we get the rest of the Chip & Dale shorts in the future. _________________ No face as hideous as my face was ever meant for Heaven's Light.

uhh? Are any of these shorts standart widescreen? that's the only way they could have various aspect ratios and be "full frame" at the same time
I haven't checked my lists but I don't think so..
The scope Chip'n Dale isn't here, no?
I suppose Working For Peanuts is not in 3-D neither
The single Chip 'n Dale disc is not the same as any one of the two German PAL ones (list here) in case anyone is wondering
Too bad they didn't include any of the 3 missing Goofy, like Soccermania or Freewayphobia etc. that woulda made them instant purchases for me
No Goofy secret easter eggs?
Since the discs run about an hour, the Goofy shorts should be minimally compressed this time.
Well this is good for those that don't have/want the more comprehensive Treasure series _________________

I didn't even think about that, but it's an excellent idea. That was a missed opportunity on Disney's part to satisfy the completists among us and give Treasures owners an incentive to get the Goofy volume. Maybe they'll put them on a future Goofy volume. _________________ No face as hideous as my face was ever meant for Heaven's Light.

Quasimodo yes!
Since the 3 missing Goofy are around 20m each, they could actually put them togueter on a separate single layer 60minute later release, maybe throw in a couple of trailers for the Goofy movies and make a killing for us Goofy completists (and probably any one else that likes goofy ) Could be called: The Rest of Goofy
And as (i asked this once but nobody has confirmed it yet) Soccermania has supposedly the first appearance of Roger Rabbit..
so RR completists may fall into the trap.. er I mean the purchasing numbers |

Oooh! Chip 'n Dale! ^____^
I'll be gettin' that one for sure! I hope a second volume with the rest of the C&Ds comes out soon after - I especially wanna see Donald Applecore. I remember it distinctly from when I was a kid... I'd love to see it again! I know it's on the Melody Time DVD, but I won't be buying (or renting) that censored thing anytime soon, so... _________________ Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. They sound like fun. One could complain "Oh, they are a cheap version of the Treasures" to which I say: exactly. They are both going for different markets, and as such, I don't see this as "profiteering" on Disney's part - at least, no more than usual. Australia and the UK (and most of Europe) have supported these single volumes AND Treasures, so it is not that wacky an idea.
I'm sure the Chip N Dale toons will make their way to a Treasure set eventually, so I'm not too anxious to get it (as that would be the only one I'd be interested in). Either way, I think these are a nice way for the 'average' buyer to get a few Old School toons in them.
Just on a related note (as has been pointed out in the International Forum), there will be Mickey's Laugh Factory and Donald's Laugh Factory release in Australia. Similar concepts, although the Mickey one is made up almost entirely of Mouseworks and House of Mouse shorts.

| I'm definitely liking the goofy release, as I missed his treasures tin. What's even greater about it is if the SRP is $14.99, we'll probably be able to find them for less than $10 the week that they're released! |

LOL, I can imagine: "Oh look, it's Treasures-Lite!"
I can't wait for January 11th now! I'm gonna get Chip 'n' Dale, and maybe even Donald even though I have the Treasures set already. But these two:
• Inferior Decorator
• Bee At The Beach
Aren't on Chrono Vol 1, so I'm guessing they'll be on Chrono Vol 2.

I think these DVD's are the same as the VHS series that came out several years ago titled Disney Cartoon Classics. I believe all in all, there were about 15 of these videotapes. Each had classic cartoons of the individual characters, as well as holiday-themed releases. I have a few of the VHS tapes and they are well done. Really glad to see these on DVD now!
