"Dakota Fanning debuts as the irrepressible but loveable Lilo in the upcoming Disney premiere Lilo & Stitch 2."
I guess that's why it didn't sound like Davleigh Chase!
This comes from Disney DVD Insider, a cool (but kind of dated and so not entirely accurate) booklet within an upcoming DVD.

I don't think that was Dakota in the trailer. It sounded like an adult female doing the voice.Luke wrote:I guess that's why it didn't sound like Davleigh Chase!
Anyway, I guess this is pretty good news. Dakota doesn't sound much like Dav, but I'm sure she'll bring some emotion to the voice, if anything.

That's gonna be strange. I guess I'll have to wait and see how she sounds, but ... Daveigh is Lilo. Her voice. I don't know if it'll throw me off, having a change. And even if it doesn't, just knowing, mentally, that it's someone different doing the voice ... the mind reels. Mine does, anyway. I find this interesting, though. And wonder how it'll work out ...
If Daveigh still does the show ... why couldn't she have done L&S 2, though ... I'm not sure how I feel about that. Even though Daveigh is getting older, et cetera, but ... to have the voice be a different actress ... hmm ...

If I may asked, where did you find this tidbit?
Because I really want to know if Gantu's going to be in the movie, and maybe the place where you found that out mentions it.... *Doubts it*
EDIT: Nevermind, I see your source now.

"We'll tar and feather him"
"He's already got feathers"
"Then we'll pluck him, tar and RE-feather him!"
"Oooh, when I catch that parrot I'll roast him over a slow fire"
"Mmmm, roast parrot, my favorite!"
"You're just supposed to arrest him!"

I assume that Daveigh was passed over for the role of Lilo this time around because of a change in her voice so I'm fine with it, but if that's not the case then I too ask why she was replaced.
Though I'm not sure I can picture her voicing Lilo right now, I don't mind the casting decision. I'm certainly not a Dakota Fanning hater (as most people here seem to be lol). I haven't seen her in many films but from what I hear she's a good young actress worthy of the praise she gets.

dakota? no thanks
What a shame. Dav is good as Lilo. And who cares if her voice is changing? At least you'll know it's the same person.
Dakota Fanning. No thanks.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Hopefully I can be of some help here.
According to "Lilo and Stitch: The Series", Executive Producer and Writer/Executive Producer of "Stitch! The Movie" Jess Winfield who posted numerous times over at the TV Tome forums..."Lilo & Stitch 2" started production before the series or "Stitch! The Movie" and is being made by a different department at Disney. The powers that be in that department thought that back in 2001, by the time "Lilo & Stitch 2" was finished with production (which would be now), that Daveigh Chase would be too old to do the voice. So they went with someone younger. Obviously they were wrong... girls' voices don't change like boys' voices do. They should have realized that. Anyway, that's why they cast Dakota Fanning as Lilo in "Lilo and Stitch 2".
