No in character commentary anymore? Why can't they have both?

I don't know. Maybe Tim Allen and Spencer Breslin backed out. Or maybe they recorded it and just aren't going to use it. Character commentary would have been interesting (if not at all informative). |

I do have a soft spot for in-character commentary if done right. Spinal Tap is, I think, a much funnier film with the in-character commentary. It really is done to perfection.
King of the Hill is hit and miss - the Peggy and Bobby commentaries come off quite well, the Dale and Bill ones don't come off as well.
For British members, both the I'm Alan Partridge and Ali G Inda House in character commentaries are appaling. Sad when you think what an Alan Partridge commentary could be like.
Wasn't the Buzz Lightyear DTV also originally advertised to have character commentaries? Perhaps Tim Allen just can't build up the courage.

Yeah, Buzz Lightyear was originally supposed to have commentary with Buzz, Woody, Rex, and Hamm. Would have been cool.
The ALF commentary on the ALF Files Canadian DVD is hysterical.
I know that Tim didn't want to ruin the illusion of the original Santa Clause movie, which apparently meant he didn't want to contribute to the extras of the Special Edition. This sounds slightly better than that, I guess. At least, the two movies are really good. |

I think a commentary with Tim Allen as Santa would be cool, but it'd also be really strange. You'd have Santa commenting on how Tim Allen was transformed into Santa using a prosthetic (spelling?) belly.
In any case, I'm really looking forward to this release, cause I love both "Santa Clause" movies (Tim Allen as Santa is too funny!). I don't have the original, because it's on TV every year, and we always tape it (although whenever it's aired, there's always a different scene edited out each time)!
Anyway, I'll probably buy it, or get my mom to as a "family Christmas film we can enjoy together"!
